D. Export packaging. One pound, 4 ounces of product shall be packaged In an open-top style, round metal can, size 401 by 411, with a soldered or welded side seam and compound-lined, double-seamed ends. The can body and ends shall be made throughout from not less than 0.25 pound per base box electrolytic tinplate. The can shall have a sufficient base plate weight and temper to protect the product during shipment and storage. The entire inside area of the can shall be enameled. The can shall be coated overall on the outside with a coating conforming to Type I or when specified, Type 111 of TT-C-495. The can shall be hermetically sealed.
E. Export packing. Twenty-four cans of product shall b& packed in a snug-fitting fiberboard box, constructed, closed, and reinforced in accordance with Style RSC, Grade V3C, V3S, or V4S of PPP-B-636. The cans shall be packed on end, 4 in length, 3 in width, and 2 in depth within the box. The tiered cans shall be separated with a full length and width fiberboard pad fabricated of the same material as the box. For distribution to Navy, reinforcement shall be restricted to nonmetallic strapping or pressure-sensitive adhesive, filament reinforced tape in accordance with the appendix of PPP-B-636.
F. Export unit loads. Shipping container shall be arranged in unit loads in accordance with Type 1, Class A of MIL-L-35078. For distribution to Navy, when unit loads are strapped, the strapping shall be limited to nonmetallic strapping.
G. Labeling (commercial and export). Labeling of cans shall be in accordance with good commercial practice and be in compliance with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and regulations promulgated thereunder
H. Marking of shipping containers (commercial and export). Commercial markings for shipping containers are acceptable provided the following information is included:
